WHY DID WE START LOVE2DONATE?
Love2Donate was largely inspired by this little man - Ernie.
When he was only a couple of months old, Ernie was diagnosed with Bilateral Retinoblastoma (an aggressive form of cancer) that affects the eyes.
Ernie endured two heavy courses of chemotherapy, over 100 hospital trips, an operation every 3 weeks and although his vision has been severely affected he is currently in remission.
Throughout his ordeal, the support and comfort provided by medical staff and cancer support groups was amazing and they helped Ernie's family through some very dark and emotional times.
As family birthdays occurred, Mother's day, Father's day etc., it was decided that instead of giving and receiving presents, we would rather donate to help those support groups assist other families going through similar nightmares.
Hence, the Love2Donate idea was born - giving the gift of a present which will also help a worthwhile cause.
HOW IT ALL WORKS
We, at Love2Donate, work to make it very straightforward for you to make a really caring and/or loving gift to a person who has a very special meaning to you. We do this by inviting you to buy a voucher to a value of your choice. We then pass your voucher to that special person with a personalised message from you.
Your message can be inserted into one of our range of e-cards and we will send it on by e-mail. Alternatively, you can print the card yourself and personally give it to your chosen recipient.
The recipient of your card gets a unique reference number which relates to the gift. Your special person then enters the Love2Donate website and follows our simple instructions in order to nominate a charity to which the donation will be sent.
We will assist in choosing the correct charity by referring to our database of over 150,000 charities. We only deal with charities that are approved by The Charities Commission as this protects you from inadvertently donating to bogus or miscreant charities.
When the recipient nominates a charity we will pass on the donation.
In addition to forwarding the donation amount, Love2Donate will also claim back gift aid on your behalf (where gift aid is applicable), which can greatly increase the amount the chosen charity receives.
